EVM Compliance & Consulting
SM&A’s Earned Value Management (EVM) Compliance and Consulting practice got its start as Performance Management Associates, Inc. (PMA), a woman-owned small business founded in 1988 and subsequently acquired by SM&A in 2007. As a result, our ability to satisfy increasing demands for consulting services and training in varied industries and project management environments around the world has been augmented to include an impressive proficiency in project management software applications. This unique blend of technical and business management experience provides our seasoned staff of consultants the ability to develop a “value-added approach” to satisfying our clients’ contractual requirements while accounting for the practical realities of sound project management.
Specifically, SM&A’s EVM Compliance and Consulting practice has demonstrated its expertise for more than 21 years in the following areas:
- EVM as a best management practice (contractually-required or not)
- EVM system (EVMS) design, implementation and operation
- EVMS software platform evaluation, selection, and integration
- Project scheduling using the critical path method (CPM)
- Integrated Baseline Review (IBR) preparation and support
- EVMS validation/certification review preparation and support
- Corrective Action Plan (CAP) development and implementation
- EVMS surveillance planning, preparation, and support
- EVM/EVMS education and training (basic and advanced)
In today's competitive global market, whether an organization is part of a high technology industry or a mature/established one, it is imperative that time-to-market for new product development be minimized and that capital projects be timely and cost effective. To this end, SM&A’s EVM Compliance and Consulting practice has assisted federal agencies like the Department of Defense (DoD) and the Department of Energy (DOE) and their contractors, as well as commercial firms, with the development and implementation of improved business processes and tools for the delivery of world-class projects and programs. We attribute much of our success to our ability to effectively apply the basic principles of EVM to new environments, including a wide range of projects/programs from the following industries:
- Aerospace and defense (A&D)
- Environmental remediation/restoration
- Engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC)
- Telecommunications
- Pharmaceutical
- Public utilities
- Transportation
- Health care
- Biotechnology
- Financial services
